The Love God is an available god to worship in Schism. You can select this god in the temple, either via the holy machine, or by using an altar in the first floor.

This god is themed around healing, and building a personal army of allies to help in combat rooms. The player starts with 2 free zombie familiars that deal damage to enemies and revive regularly after dying, and can also get more zombies as the Love god's favor level goes up. The player gains faith and XP for healing and for each ally death. The starting active relic is Life Psy.

After choosing this god, the player immediately loses 1 point in their speed stat. The player can make up the difference by investing points into DEX.

Faith/XP Gained = Healing / 10 + (Healing / 10 x (FAI x 0.25))

For every point of healing the player receives, they gain 0.1 points of faith and XP each. In most cases, the player needs to be damaged first before being able to receive healing, one exception being Life Psy, which always 'heals' the player on use and gives faith/XP even if they are at full health. For every point in the FAI, every point of healing gives 25% more faith/XP.

Faith/XP Gained = Deaths x 0.625 + (Deaths x 0.625 x (FAI x 0.20))

When an ally dies in battle, their HP is counted, and then faith/XP is given according to how much total HP they had. For example, A free zombie ally from Love god favor has 30 HP, so on death, they will provide 0.625 faith/XP. Other types of allies such as Dog-Bots and Hired Guns will also award faith/XP on death according to their HP.

The player gains 20% more faith/XP per ally HP on death, for every point in their FAI stat.

The player gains 2 zombie familiars after choosing the Love god, and after that, they get 1 more zombie ally for every favor level.

God Relics

The Love god grants the relic Life Psy when chosen in the temple, which is an active relic that heals the player's missing health and scales with INT. Additionally, every 3 favor levels, the god delivers themed relics to the player that can either increase familiar count or boost healing further.

The Love god has a chance to deliver the Dog-Bot and Shield-Bot relics to the player, which are stackable relics that add damaging and projectile-blocking familiars, respectively. If all other relics have already been picked up, then only these 2 stackable items will be delivered every 3 favor levels.

Tips

  • Ally HP scales with your total health. Consider investing in VIT to raise their HP and gain extra faith/XP per ally death.
  • The Love god can deliver the active relic Summon Psy. It is very effective in the context of a Love god run, as the spawned familiars both boost room clearing power and total faith/XP gain on average.
  • Similarly, the Gang Up card also has a dual purpose this way.
  • You always gain favor from healing, even if you are already at max HP. You can use the Life Psy relic to gain free favor and XP if you have no other uses for MP.
  • The Health Potion and Mixed Potion work similarly and also give faith/XP at full health.
  • The damage output of the free zombie familiars scales with the weapon you are holding while they are revived. If you want to get the most possible damage from your zombies, make sure to hold your highest DMG weapon when entering the next room after combat.
