Two copies of Passive Portfolio at 40 stacks each.

The Passive Portfolio is a relic in Schism. The player is able to find and obtain multiple copies of this relic during their run. The associated god for this relic is Greed, and it may be granted as a relic reward every 3 favor levels.

For every combat room completed, the number of stacks on Passive Portfolio increases by 20, and the player's INT and WIS stats will also contribute to stacks gained. When the total number of stacks reaches 100 or more, a random coin is spawned near the player to be picked up. The number of Passive Portfolio copies the player holds will increase the amount of coins dropped when the stacks reach 100.

Synergies & Interactions

+ Positive, = Neutral, - Negative

Relics

  • + Bank Psy: The coins dropped can be invested into Bank Psy for higher returns next floor.
  • + 'Currency Shop' Record: The coins dropped will passively increase the effectiveness of the 'Currency Shop' Record as the player clears more rooms.
  • + Gold Psy: The coins dropped will somewhat offset the cost to activate Gold Psy over time.
  • + Index Fund: The coins dropped will contribute to Index Fund's returns next floor.
  • + Jingly Keys: The bonus LCK from Jingly Keys will increase the odds or rare coins dropping from Passive Portfolio.
  • + Lost Credit: The amount of coins dropped overtime can easily raise the player's gold to the cap, especially with high INT and WIS. As such, raising the cap with copies of Lost Credit is desirable.
  • = Money Printer Overload: The coins will be doubled in value when picked up, making Passive Portfolio a more valuable relic to have. However, this also coincides with the drawbacks of Money Printer Overload.

Gods

  • + Greed God: All other items that can drop from levelling up the Greed god's favor gain direct benefits from the amount of coins the Passive Portfolio relic can drop. Additionally, Passive Portfolio's coins will decrease the risk of activating the Greed god's curse.
  • - Champ God / War God: These gods make enemy rooms harder in some way, which increases the difficulty of gaining Passive Portfolio stacks.

Tips

  • This relic incentives clearing as many rooms as possible. Try to fully complete each floor to gain maximum benefits from Passive Portfolio.
  • Just one point in WIS can decrease the rooms required to activate Passive Portfolio from 5 to 4, and two more points after that will decrease rooms required from 4 to 3. Try investing in WIS immediately after finding this relic to boost the amount of stacks you receive per room.
  • The odds of rare coin drops go up as your LCK stat rises. Whenever possible, also try to raise your LCK stat to improve the odds of the relic dropping silver or even gold coins.

Notes

  • Completed enemy waves will not contribute to the stack count; the entire room must be cleared for stacks to be gained.
  • Unlike most other relics that use the stack mechanic, any leftover stacks past 100 after beating a room will carry over to the next stack count (i.e. gaining 25 stacks when at 90 will leave 15 stacks left over.)
  • Picking up another copy of Passive Portfolio while already having built up a stack count will cause the new copy to behave as though it also has that stack count. In other words, the amount of stacks the player has accumulated will not change.

Trivia

  • In simple words, a passive portfolio is a set of investments made by an individual that attempts to maximize returns over a long time period, while minimizing the amount of buying, selling and other actions performed. This is a common investment strategy used by a wide range of investors that do not have either the time or energy to actively participate in the stock market, but still want to gain profit over a long period of time.[1]
  • Passive Portfolio is the only relic in Schism that both has a counter for the number of copies the player holds, and a relic-intrinsic counter (being a stack counter in this case,) simultaneously.
